I’m Shay Cathey, a fourth-generation, boot-wearing Texan who loves her husband and the three children he gave her dearly. Being a MOM is the best job I’ve ever had. It’s so hard though. There’s lots of second guessing. Lots of challenges. More questions than answers. Other than my own faith walk, it’s the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever done. I had a great childhood in a modest home with adoring Christian parents who set a wonderful example. They’re super-involved in their church and community managing to make it look like a cake walk. I hear the same thing about me. From work to church to family to other commitments; I stay pretty busy. Friends always ask, “How do you do it – and have fun at the same time?” It’s a MYTH.  There isn’t a secret. There is no perfect way to do most of the things moms are called to do. The success is in the effort. And I try really hard. Really hard to give my family the best of me so I can bring out the best in them. But I’m a MESS. A real “scramble-the-egg-because-cooking-it-over-easy-didn’t work” kind of mess. But I’m loved. I’m special. I’m unique. I’m Shay.
