Walk up to my sons and ask them what they were taught to say (by their mother) EVERY TIME they see a police officer. I DARE YOU.
Do it outside of my presence.
They are taught to say "Thank you for keeping us safe" whenever they see an officer in uniform. My oldest son even used to have cards he passed out to them.
So, yes I respect the police.I honor their profession and duty.
This outcry across the country from angry, hurt, and frustrated citizens about recent police shootings is not an anti-police movement. The blood of these slain victims is crying for us to speak up.
We can respect the profession without winking ignorance at the glaring disparity in the numbers of unarmed Black men killed by police. It's shameful.
So don't give me the "All police are not bad" and some of the victims are "bad."
Stop it. That argument is beneath you.
However, if that is your point and the counter response doesn't include "all Black men are not dangerous and need to be shot dead at point blank range" - then it's is a waste of breath.
